There was a period of maybe 4 days where the only thing that could get my kid to sleep was “Alice’s Restaurant.” All 18 minutes of it.

My 5 year old and I are frequent visitors to our local library: we’re known to the Children’s Desk as “the ones who roll up with 2 oversized Aldi bags and leave with 40+ books.”

Fair enough. I am only speaking from what my research (under the supervision of my dissertation advisor) has taught me. (He’s a Dalit Christian from Tamil Nadu. This doesn’t put me in any way near the lived experiences of others: I only hope to help other westerners understand some of the issue.)

Knowing that Hindutva is all about caste, “Indian identity,” and cultural norms being dictated by the upper echelons of society, I understand this as inextricably rooted.

I’ve been hearing “but Cory Booker” from my in-laws for a couple months now.
The don’t seem to grasp the performance that he gave, of appearing to do something when his 24 hour speaking blocked anyone with a coherent argument from talking… and then voted to confirm most of the cabinet anyway.

Maybe if you actually understood what Section 230 is and what it does, people might actually care about what you think about the Department of Education. If Josh Hawley and Lindsey Graham support it, that’s reason enough NOT to.

Absolutely. Plus, it’s a misnomer to call Israelite religion “Judaism.” Until the Second Temple was destroyed in 70CE, Judaism wasn’t a thing. Having no center of religious activity made the Pharisee path the only one.

For sure. So maybe: teach other traditions (I spent a couple weeks on early Chinese philosophy in my first year of undergrad, which I am just now realizing isn’t the norm) and also approach with a better sense of historiography, and to “listen for the silences,” as I was told in grad school.
