I do too. But I’m super self conscious about it because I’m autistic and I can get obsessive about Marxism. So I always need to remind myself to dial it back. I’m going into education and my goal is to introduce the dialectical materialist world outlook to my students cuz I can teach history now

The goal of state violence is to break up protest movements, the only reasons the 2020 uprisings forced even the smallest concessions was because the cost of continued repression vs mass retaliation was too high.

My point is the state doesn’t care about bad PR. Treating non violence as a tactic against police brutality assumes you can embarrass the state into giving you concessions. Cops attack protesters because they know they can get away with it+

I just have a feeling that if Marxists called themselves Socialists or Communists instead, there would be fewer arguments about whether Marx said this or that and more discussions on how to apply the ideas to our world. Arguments about socialism or communism, if they are to be had, should be […]

No more hero worship! Marx wasn't God. He was a man with good ideas, and those ideas came from a scientific analysis of society and humans, which, in that case, if anything is to be worshiped, it should be the science of sociology.

Because it means you are calling on the working and oppressed masses to be disarmed and not to organize to defend themselves from systemic violence

Nonviolent protesting against a fundamentally violent system is just a delayed form of suicide. It’s naive at best because it assumes the ruling class gives a fuck about morals and suicidal at worst+

Look at what happened to MLK? He was non violent and did that help win him any sympathy from whites? No. After his death only 33% of whites even approved of him. His call for non violence was sadly, functionally an endorsement of systemic violence inflicted by whites on black folk+

The issue with this is that A. Regardless of how non-violently you protest the pigs will still literally attack you or murder you, and the media will still spin it as though the protesters were the problem +

We need to get more people in the streets for optics (i.e. critical mass), but also because on-the-ground experience is a form of political education.

I'm not saying this as an "I told you so," but: there are some people in that crowd who've sat at their keyboards ranting about protesters throwing rocks and burning cars. They are learning firsthand that cops make protests violent, not protesters. Hopefully, they'll remember that in the future.

Genuinely this is incredibly enlightening

Explain what that is and it might get them interested/intellectually curious. From there you slowly reel them in like luring in nerds with a new book on a fishing line.

I agree with this and I think the best way to explain Marxism is to start w explaining the framework used by Marxists. Because that is what Marxism is at its core. A dialectical historical materialist framework+
