I couldn't contain myself when I got this email, and I shouted in joy! My neigbors in offices down the hall (different department) jogged over and asked if I had just got a grant or application accepted, or if my team won a championship. It was indeed the former!😆

One of my teenagers shared this amazing video with me, and I am proud. The kid understands my interests.

Did you hear the story of the Victorian hoax about a fake Welsh Kingdom in NW England, which fooled Wikipedia editors for most of the 2010s>>

My recent UMASS honors thesis advisee shared with me a cool graphic they found on a linguistics chat on Reddit. This image is based largely on data I published in my 2023 article in Humans (and is correctly cited). Can anyone help me identify the image author so I can thank them?

This is slightly off topic, but I wanted to share this with you (see DMs). BSKY doesn't allow photos in DMs. I wanted to know if you had heard of this Teddy Kollek collection (1968).

3) However, I have proposed that Dene-Yeniseian relations are much LATER in the Holocene than previously maintained. This means that Turkic loanwords in Dene-Yeneseian comparanda are NOT a fatal flaw, but a dating corroboration for a short chronology.

I appreciate your citation of my work in the video! Thanks!

To respond to your critique that no ancient source referred to it as a quotation, I'd note that no ancient commentary on the passage whatsoever exists before Tertullian's comment on the displaced western type. www.mdpi.com/2077-1444/13...

Rest in Peace, my colleague Prof. Horvitz, who passed away suddenly yesterday. We never met in person, but we taught the same students similar subjects in the same department, and both worked under Prof. Tony Tuck with Poggio Civitate materials. It is sad she did not complete her PhD as she hoped.

Post a perfect album cover from the 90s that isn't Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, or Alice in Chains.

The comments on this reddit feed are unsure about the original artist of this clickbait T-Shirt rooster, but his name is "Chinpo Raging Cock Warrior"

I read the first part of this too quickly and I thought you were expressing your disdain for those musicals [which are] rooted misogyny. I know there are not many examples, but I immediately recalled MGM's 'Love-Making Musical' Seven Brides for Seven Brothers [adapted from Rape of the Sabine Women].

This indeed is a beautiful work. It reminds me of Tom Baker's portrayal of the Doctor in Doctor Who in the late 1970s.
