@laurelpfahler.bsky.social Laurel, do you know who controls the development of the individual club mobile apps for MLS? I am under the impression that every team controls the development of their app and content but obviously with guidance from MLS. But I could be wrong. Thank you.

Day two of #CincyAIWeek. It will be another packed day of presentations, discussions, panel chats, etc. It kicked off with an event for women and there were over 200 women in the room. Awesome!

While it's already been widely shared, I had not shared Bruce Springsteen's video that has tangerine man losing his mind and having a meltdown. So here it is.

Every spring around this time I find one of these while working either in our backyard or at the edge of the woods behind our backyard. We can't touch them since they're protected by law. But I love running into them. I think turtles are very cool.

This weekend Casa Guerra had a wine tasting with some close friends. The wines we provided were from Italy, USA, and France. These were accompanied by a variety of cheeses, meats, and vegetables, placed on a chilled serving board made by Pampered Chef.

Regardless of your political inclinations, whether or not you support DOGE, or even if you don't care...you should care about this one. As an IT professional and someone that has a basic understanding of cyber security and privacy, this should concern everyone.

DOGE Is Building a Master Database to Surveil and Track Immigrants
DOGE is knitting together data from the Department of Homeland Security, Social Security Administration, an IRS that could create a surveillance tool of unprecedented scope.

When you are a leader, while you have to level with your people when there is a crisis hitting you, you also have to be optimistic. They are all looking to you to lead. No one follows a pessimistic leader.
This is the last of Colin Powell's 13 rules of leadership.

Rule 12 from Colin Powell is an interesting.
I've refrained form commenting politically as I've posted his 13 rules of leadership. But this is is very relevant right now.
No organization, including countries, can be built on fear or cowards who hide behind their rhetoric.

When a crisis hits, the rulebook usually goes out the window. First order of business is to solve the problem but you are most effective when remaining calm but focused on what needs to happen. People look to the leader in moments of chaos to get direction and focus.

Every good leader that I have worked for always gave credit to the organization for successes and was front and center when things didn't go right. I learned that early on in my corporate career.

As a leader you establish a vision, think strategically, and provide direction on execution. But you also don't neglect the details.

We are all the sum of our decisions. But when we let others make decisions for us, we lose the opportunity to enjoy our successes or to learn from our failures.
March 30, 2025 at 4:06 PM
As leaders we are sometimes have to make decisions that are not necessarily supported either by the facts or that may create tension in the organization. In these instances, doing what is right is the most appropriate choice. While it may cost you at multiple levels, the truth eventually prevails.
March 28, 2025 at 1:18 PM
As leaders of people we make decisions every day. Those decisions can affect not just our well being and direction, but also those around us. Be careful, yes, but don't be paralyzed by the decision at hand.

Being a leader always requires being persistent, among other things. Colin Powell found ways of getting things done, sometimes in the face of huge odds against him. This is what encompasses his fourth rule of leadership.
March 27, 2025 at 4:01 AM
Colin Powell's developed his 13 rules of Leadership over the course of his career. They are practical, insightful, and can be applied immediately to any aspect of our lives. Here is number three.
March 25, 2025 at 11:45 AM
As promised, here is the second of Colin Powell's 13 rules of leadership.
I had the fortune of hearing him speak once and he was engaging, funny, informative, and a great communicator. Every leader needs the latter especially.
March 24, 2025 at 2:03 PM
I'll be posting Colin Powell's 13 rules of leadership. Powell had an exemplary career within the military as well as the diplomatic corps. He was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President George H. W. Bush and then Secretary of State under President George W. Bush.
Here's the first one.

FCC Opening Day last night! It was the coldest game ever played at TQL Stadium. Temperature at the start of the game was 31° F. There was also a poignant moment to remember young Marco Angulo who was killed in Ecuador in a traffic accident. He was on loan from FC Cincinnati to an Ecuadorian team.
