I did a bit of what I'd call "Questionable Science". Thanks to the power of sim racing, I took the 2005 MP4-20, equipped it with Slicks and compared it to its original, Grooved tire, version. We know what will be faster, but how much faster?

On one corner, the man that has dominated F1 for the last years. On the other corner, the man with a square head ready to challenge the top driver. And on the 3rd corner, a young Spaniard from a French team looking to break F1 in half. Who shall prevail?

Desperation O'Clock - Grand Prix World 2001: Justice For Prost GP - 28
The final 2 races of the year are upon us. On one corner you have Ferrari's Michael Schumacher, who has dominated F1 for the past 3 years and is looking for his 3rd straight title in his final year driving for the Scuderia. On the other corner you have McLaren's David Coulthard, powered by the best car on the grid and solid consistency, he's led the championship for pretty much the entire year and has a chance to win his first title. And on the third corner you have the underdog, Prost GP's Fernando Alonso. Quietly consistent, getting points on every race before surging during the 2nd half of the year, he has a very small, but very realistic, chance of overcoming both of the main title contenders and win his first ever title, and achieving one of the objectives of this playthrough. He needs a small miracle to do so, and both the Nurburgring and Suzuka have seen their fair share of miracles. Who will prevail? Imagine having a regular upload schedule. Anyway, the clock is slowly ticking over to "Desperation O'Clock", with only 4 races to go, the boys must make a combined miracle to get Alonso the title. The Number 2 Driver, however, had a different plan.

14 points. 14 points is the magic number of points David Coulthard needs to knock Alonso out from the championship chase. We are working with extremely tight margins here, now with just 4 races to go in this championship. We go to Spa where 1 stops are king and we tend to be strong, and Monza which must be sacrificed in terms of performance, all in the name of getting the maximum performance out of the car in the final few races. We need a clean series of races to enter the final episode of the season with a chance. But The Number 2 driver had other ideas ... No, I haven't forgotten this exists ... those reports have been greatly exageratted.
Anyway, Round 5 of the 2000 F1 Season is on. Circuit de Catalunya is a fine test track. As a race track ... opinions differ, but it is our next race tracks. Can it surprise?

2000 Spanish Grand Prix - F1 Challenge '99-'02: The Mendoza Career
We head to one of the most recognizable race tracks in the world: The Circuit de Catalunya, in Montmeló, Spain. A track the teams have already run at in preseason testing and quite a few mid season test sessions. The teams like the track because it can test many characterisistics of the car, but it is known as a track where not much happens. With rain the possibility of rain in qualifying shaking up the grid however, there's a chance action breaks out on track. How will this race affect everyone's championship? I'm sorry it took this long. Editing takes some time, and I've been busy to sit down and edit this. Happy to be able to get this one out the door and get ready for the next one. Like this content? 2000 San Marino Grand Prix - F1 Challenge '99-'02: The Mendoza Career
With two races down, it's tied at the top with both Hakkinen and Schumacher looking like they'll fight all year long for the drivers championship, with their respective teams: McLaren and Ferrari, looking set to fight for the constructors championship. Meanwhile a fairly competitive midfield seems to be forming between Jordan, BAR, Jaguar, Benetton and Williams, (nearly) all of them using different engines. Their fight looks set to continue at the historic Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Italy. For once we'll get a normal, dry weekend, so we'll be able to get a better read into everyone's performance. As an aside, rip the formation lap. The AI is too stupid to make it right on every track (Hi Monaco), and it is very exploitable, so I decided to retire it, at least for now. For this particular episode, and all episodes to follow, I will be using Jorge Alonso's Realism utility. That utility, through the use of data and Excel macros (which to me are magic), it alters driver and car performance dynamically, based on how the teams performed in real life as well as how they are performing in the current season. It also can, and will, generate realistic weather for each race track we'll visit. If you want to check it out, first polish up that Spanish, then go to this vid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=en5KozxJaZE Like this content? Want to do something entirely optional and support it? Two good news. The first one is that a new GPW video is in. After the success of the previous episode, we take on Hockemheimring and the Hungaroring hoping to snatch some more points.

Panic Station #12 - Grand Prix World 2001: Justice For Prost GP - 17
Finally, after struggling for much of the year, we got the points finish we wanted (and deserved). And we very quickly went one better and got a podium. Morale, despite the game not showing it, is on the up. Now we go to a track where I've usually had great success, the Hockemheimring. We also visit a track that we didn't run last year, the Hungaroring (we didn't because the car would not have made it, no matter what). Can we keep this momentum going with more points finishes? This here is the last video before I adquired a graphics card. F1 Challenge content will return soon. Don't forget to like, comment and subscribe if you enjoy this content. Like this content?
