PhD in English literature from Lund University, studying cultural memory and portrayals of the ancient Scandinavian past in British Romanticism. Occasional artist.

I've had some new followers so a short intro!

My PhD concerned cultural memories about the Norse past in romantic British literature and art. I'm fascinated by necromancy to illustrate historiography and how gothic aesthetics inform approaches to the past. I also write about video games sometimes
Very grateful to have been awarded a prize for my dissertation from Vetenskapssociteten!

Is there anything Romantic about wandering around in open-world video games? I think about Romantic ideals of imagination, immersion, and solitude in a chapter in this conference proceedings publication by GER: www.wvttrier.de/p/romanticis...

How might we be creative in our academic communication?

I've written down the thoughts I presented at the National Forum for English Studies, held at Lund University in April 2025:

Beautiful exhibition on Romanticism at the National Gallery, Stockholm! On Romantic artists’ desire to paint both the inner and outer world at the same time, and on Romanticism as “a way to see” that can also be found in contemporary art, film, and video games. Featuring Friedrich, of course

I've had a go at putting together a Medievalism starter pack - if you'd like to be added (or removed!), please do let me know :)

A friend of mine has his own YouTube show / podcast where people are invited to talk about movies! My episode on my love for Gothic cinema can be seen here (it is not an academic performance, so beware of the not completely coherent thoughts):

A little over a month now since I successfully defended my thesis, “Remembering Classical Scandinavia in Britain, 1760–1830” and was awarded my PhD! Many thanks to Prof. Robert Rix for a great discussion
