A detail of the leaves of Fitzroya cupressoides
Fitzroya cupressoides (Cupressaceae). The pictures are not very good quality (it was raining), but this species of tree is really impressive. I love it, and the Valdivian temperate forests.

After some days visiting a few burnt areas in northern Argentinian Patagonia, here are some species that resprout from the base after a wildfire: Lomatia hirsuta (Proteaceae), Aristotelia chilensis (Elaeocarpaceae), Schinus patagonica (Anacardiaceae), Nothofagus antarctica (Nothofagaceae)

These hot days, when I open the windows at home at night, I receive the visit of many of these creatures attracted by the lights. It is the box tree moth (Cydalima perspectalis), invasive species in Europe. Their larvae feeds the leaves of Buxus species leaving them totally defoliated.

Sebastião Salgado has died... He was a great photographer! Now comes to my mind the documentary entitled "The Salt of the Earth" which explains his works on several natural places or on peoples around the world. Then I bought one of his books...

After 2 days of @holisoils.bsky.social meeting in Marseille, yesterday was really interesting to visit the project's experimental site at Saint-Christol d'Albion where a nice experimental design will provide insights of the impacts of different thinning intensities on the ecosystem.

Looking daily data from the meteorological station of Lladurs (Pre-Pyrenees, NE Iberian Pen., close to my home...), it is obvious that cold days have been less frequent and hot days more frequent in the last years (2014-2024) than in the previous ones (1999-2013). Look 👇 #ClimateChange
