Holy smokes, what a way to end the month! Taking no prisoners, this album is completely punishing from top to bottom. The drums are relentless (such attack), and the riffs could not be heavier. Thanks for following along and we’ll see you next year!

A moody and downtempo alternative-folk record, which also successfully brings in light electronic elements. Ms. Orton’s creamy vocals and soft instrumentation act as a guiding light but sadly too much easy listening for my tastes. Pass!

Apparently recorded in only one day, I would’ve loved to been a fly on the wall at this session. A sometimes disconnected and almost always dissonant post-punk album. Pulsing with angst and attitude, it’s a unique and energetic listen!

Backed by his “Cherokee Cowboys”, Mr. Price croons over a collection of tunes just perfect for crying into your beer. Classic honky tonk in the best way! I wouldn’t blame you for saying the songs are all too similar sounding, but it’s part of the charm.

As the band name implies, Trisagion envelopes you in a seal of beautiful black metal. Lengthy tracks allow multiple themes to be established, a blizzard of tremolo, guttural screams, and symphonic pads, swirling and filling you both inside and out.

As funky as they come and solid Sunday morning tunes! Mr. Smith slays on the organ, providing an undeniable warm tone to the record, but the rest of the players definitely hold their own. Top track: an absolutely ripping cover of Seven Steps to Heaven.

Veil of Conspiracy craft a rich musical atmosphere, like a weighted blanket draped over you. Heavy as expected but more melodic, with vocal melodies and guitar lead lines that make this record more approachable for non-metal listeners.

Celtic folk meets shouty punk rock, and a smattering of odd ball tracks. The use of traditional instrumentation shares the stage with gruff vocals to a solid end result. Maybe not an everyday listen but definitely enjoyable!

Cafe Bleu dares to combine smoky ballads, latin jazz, swing, and straight up 80s pop. It’s a gutsy endeavour but sadly doesn’t stick the landing. The genre mix is incongruent and comes off as a random group of songs rather than a cohesive album.

New to me, I was looking forward to getting to listen to this record. The rich storytelling of the focused vocals paints a vivid image for your mind’s eye. In concert with the heavy but playful beats, you have a textbook hardcore hip hop showing. Nice!

What if the Beatles were a psychedelic surf-rock group? Look no further! What a little doozy of a record, just less than thirty minutes but chock full of foot stomping riffs. It’s a live performance but the band is tight and firing on all cylinders.

Despite listening on one of the coldest days of the year, the summer vibes do not get cooled down on this release. Reggae and dub adjacent, a slow burn that can be met with feet up and cocktail in hand. Ultimately, music from a simpler time.

A fun and pleasant surprise! Front to back, this record has top-notch songwriting and musicianship, and not to mention one hell of a horn section. The fact that this was a debut release is really impressive. Great stuff here!
