I’d say so, yeah! I’ve done some loose shootouts between the 8040, Schoeps MK4, and KSM184 and the 184 is closer to the transparency of the schoeps, but definitely more sensitive to SPL. Great noise floor though, very easy to clean up!

A surprising one for me has been using the KSM184 for all sorts of foley recordings! More delicate than the 8040, but similar profiles on some things.

Also, the Melda plugins are such a blast to get some quick design ideas going!
