The latter is important because although humans will ABSOLUTELY make shit up in their day-to-day lives, they're less likely to do so in lines of code or in business requirements. I don't want to accidentally implement an undesired feature that an AI came up with on its own.

And frustrations on the larger business usage level:
1. People who use AI for all writing. You can usually tell.
2. Processes that encourage using AI first, regardless of whether it will save time or not.
3. A lack of transparency over whether AI was used or not to generate code, requirements, etc.

The things I hate the most about AI from a development perspective:
1. It writes code that LOOKS correct. This is its worst feature by far. Reviewing AI-generated code is harder because you can't trust it on appearance
2. Its eco footprint
3. Unpredictability/Hallucinations
4. Lying with confidence

Too often people will just have the AI do this same grunt work over and over again which is bad because:

- it isn't a targeted use of computer power (wasteful)
- its output is not deterministic (you won't get the same output every time)
- it's slower *and* costs money

This is an extremely good, balanced use of AI:
- it greatly speeds up creation of tools/solutions
- future use of the tool doesn't require the AI
- it's a great alternative to off-the-shelf solutions which aren't customized enough to your tech stack or data formats

Good use of AI (assuming it doesn't mess it up):

"Given this raw data and desired output format, please create a script in <language> that parses it and outputs into the desired format"

Then have a HUMAN test the script until works perfectly, and then just run that script in the future.

I told you, I ran out of flour!

Regardless of whether they are actually doing a good job or not, it is telling that it's necessary to lavish praise on various Americans by name just to ensure that they treat Ukraine fairly.

I mean this is what people thought in 2021 though right?

Art and literature can become commodities.
November 30, 2025 at 1:42 AM
Things like art and writing have absolutely had monetary value attached to them but they were still mostly creative endeavors by individuals. With AI, content is now something that companies can create at volume without worrying about petty issues like creativity or actual mental effort.

10-15 years ago if you needed a ride home from the airport or a place to stay you'd inconvenience a friend or a relative. Now there's Uber and Airbnb.

I mean I agree.

I think a lot of the discourse around disruption is really "How can we find societal norms or features that aren't currently monetized, monetize them, and put them under the control of capital.

They're all carefully contained *within* the pots Waldo.

Louis CK "reentered" a while back, following the tried-and-true resentful "I did nothing wrong" angle of appealing to the angry non-woke crowd, including the just one gender joke.

There is no bar to meet. The anti-woke will like his material out of spite. It almost doesn't matter if it's funny.

Disruption for disruption's sake.

I've listened occasionally to the NHK World podcast which is an English news program from Japan. It often is pretty good. Their coverage of business/economics is good, the journalists involved do a good job explaining various concepts and getting into what the impacts will be.

It turned out... Okay. Not a disaster but also not something I'll do again. I'll stick to my apple pie and buy sweet potato from the bakery when I want it.

What?

Accounting isn't mandatory in high schools.

I never took it.

Also I don't see any link between accounting and gun violence.

This year I am attempting it but of course I have to be wayward and try it with purple sweet potatoes. I'll post pictures if it turns out good.
