The song is about a gay man, Quentin Crisp, moving to New York and struggling to fit in! There is some white privilege in his immigrant experience and relative financial privilege of being a minor celebrity, but also hints of discrimination and being treated as a misfit. Definitely complicated.

The X algorithm has become all about disaster engagement and rage bait. Facebook did the same thing in 2016 and suffered for it. I think people crave positive social interaction. Nobody really wants to spend all their time in a doom spiral arguing with strangers about the bad things in the world
