New account means new Introductory post. I'm the lead video editor & mograph artist for Entertainment at Universal Orlando. In tandem with my work at UO for events like HHN, my work can also be seen at various Cedar Fair parks. I love tiki bars, theme parks, and Cincinnati chili.
The single most difficult secret I’ve had to keep in my professional life. I am a *massive* Fallout fan and still have to pinch myself sometimes that I’m lucky enough to working on something Fallout-related. Absolutely bouncing off the walls for this one. ☢️

Got a notification that I wrote this reply in a thread about my basement tiki bar exactly 4 years ago. Life can be funny. But in retrospect it's insane.

Vol may not be speaking directly to guests for the moment, but I was proud to at least have him continue to tell the story of the Waturi in animated form to passing guests in the meantime. It also provided an opportunity to design an additional "Elder" Vol character.

Never forget: The amount of effort and things that have to go right just for something to even open, let alone be *good*, is astronomical. Themed entertainment is a miracle, and the people who put it together are the coolest people on Earth. No matter the project size.

Me panicking after my name was called on the Zoom meeting but I wasn't paying attention

"Yeah yeah I'd love to make short form content of Figment"

Maybe a hot take but I think the old guard constantly shitting on the new gen of themed ent. designers on certain social sites kinda sucks. There are limitations now that did not exist in the "good old days". For better and for worse.

6 full hours at Epic later and I have never been prouder or felt luckier to work in themed entertainment. The future of our industry is bright. I really, REALLY did not want to leave today. Believe the hype.

Henry is so insanely good at this and it's insane nobody has picked him up full-time to do it for them yet. Glowing recommendation from me.
NEW: The Artist Spotlight series continues with a look at @tgrahammemories.bsky.social and the AMAZING creations of his Theme Park Preservation Society.

Come for the E-Ticket art, but stay for a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at how they came to life.

I want every Chiefs fan who visits Worlds of Fun to know the guy who helped re-design their Panda mascot absolutely hates their football team

I've had an idea stewing in my brain for an alternative stretching room show moment that physically removes the hanging body but keeps the spirit of the scene through some tech upgrades. Thinking about mocking it up in my very little spare time.

Extraordinarily true. The coolest jobs and gigs I've gotten have been a direct result of the friends I've made who do this stuff. And that's speaking as someone who generally *hates* and *sucks* at networking.
Actual pro tip: the best way to break into any creative profession is by helping to support and advance other creators. Your peers are not your adversaries. They are your support group.

Some of the Dino U.S.A. closing discourse is about to get me to finally stop engaging with theme park social media. Everybody is so pissed off, judgey, and snarky every single day, all the time, about everything.

Life is way, way too short to constantly exist in that sort of headspace.

There's a romanticized view of themed entertainment design that the public has largely accepted as reality. I think it's done a disservice to the work and has set up unrealistic expectations. The only ones able to see past it are those who work in it.

In short: marketing works.
