That NYT article is one of the most frustrating things I have ever read. These people aren’t undecided voters making choices on principle. Most of them fundamentally do not understand how things work. Most of them aren’t undecided.

How many states passed abortion laws or minimum wage hikes and still went to Trump?

You have to figure out how to message why those don’t agree. There’s gonna be a lot of scared and confused and betrayed folks these next years.

Be willing to meet them and talk honestly.

Again, education, empathy, love, and the message that the division is something they want you to believe in. Stop trying to move right to meet the mythical moderates. Progressive policies are overwhelmingly favored. It’s the messaging that we fuck up.

You start this on Day 1 and work toward reaching already existing coalitions. Dont just work with leftist strategists, but listen to them. Work with rural movements, labor movements, civil rights movements, etc.

if you can start chipping away at this early, you have a shot.

The messaging needs to be “we failed you, but they sold you out and betrayed you for corporate dollars.”

And then a comprehensive package of legislation and initiatives like P2025, but that address civil and bodily rights, housing, food insecurity, debt, workers rights, etc.

Walz, Pritzker, Beshear, AOC, Shapiro, Newsome, etc. anyone who resonates, talking to their constituents at every thing we face. This is what happened. Why it happened. Who it benefits. Who it hurts. And what we can do to fix it moving forward.
