The fact that these celebrations line up is also meaningful for me because both Nostra Aetate and the Prophet were central to my PhD dissertation, in which I offered a Catholic view of Muhammad. I’m excited to share more about this project in the coming months.

Many Muslims will be marking the 1500th anniversary of the birth (or mawlid) of the Prophet Muhammad. The confluence of these two anniversaries provides us a wonderful opportunity to deepen cross-religious understanding, as well as learn about our the history of our own faith.
