This was essentially Ottawa city council til Jim Watson came in. He got it under control primarily through back office politics and covert strong-arming. On the surface it looked great. In reality we had miserable councillors who had to abide by his agenda.

I unfortunately don’t have time for a debate today but if you google it you will find Ted talks and research showing that the WAY that public transit gets positioned is inherently designed for men. The concept is good and the execution fails.

I’ve had extended conversations with leiper and yes. He does say that. He suggested I take my kids to hockey practice on my bike. With all the equipment .

PS I loathe the assumption that bike routes will solve everything when Ottawa has a) 112 days of rain and 6 mos of winter PLUS 260k people with disabilities that may affect cycling ability.

2/2 discussions. I have argued against @jleiper.bsky.social many times on this because his fixation on bikes doesn’t account for carting kids, senior parents, and groceries around a city twice the size of LA. #ottcity

Thank you. I’m sorry for your experiences too!

I hear you and the pain that brought you. I had similar shock when my beloved RMT said she was fine with Covid ‘thinning the herd’ and was welcoming it. A person I trusted with my (chronically ill) body. I think Covid taught a lot of us who our people really were.

YES what was WITH the BJJ people being so anti-science and consequently anti-community? The roots of martial arts should have guided them another way.
