Planning, transportation, and economic development. Dem campaign finance in another life. Long suffering Mets, Jets, and Knicks fan. Expect typos. Views are my own.
Jaha Howard! Whoa, he was the fav for a state Sen district won by Jen Jordan a few years back. Had some social media posts leaked that were horrible, IIRC.

I love this strained analogy. Should've given QB2 more practice reps, made the change early in the 4th, initial drive resulted in points, subsequent drives ok but offense stalled late resulting in a spirited comeback that came up short.

SC-01, despite being gerrymandered, is still a good target. Certainly a wave one but all the growth in the district is going to be near Charleston and burbs.

Because it presupposes that Rs have no agency on this and that even great D candidates can continue to outrun partisanship -- road came to an end for Manchin, Tester, and Sherrod, for example.

I don't think the FSSC gets enough attention. They've blatantly ignored a state constitutional amendment because they don't like it.

Ds have overperformed in the Senate the past 15 years because R primary voters have put up candidates that are putrid. It's not something inherently sustainable.

Newsom's next push should be to do away with this Top 2 crap in favor of AK style Top 4.

Has there ever been a Parliamentary majority this likely to end in a single term? Maybe Heath in the 70s? Sometime before the 20th century?
November 16, 2025 at 3:58 PM
OH Sen. If Sherrod wins that relatively easily then Ds are having a banner night.

Ramasway is an awful candidate for OH. Complete own goal clearing the field in a state with a deep R bench. CA tech bro in a working class state. He's going to drive less enthusiasm than Vance did in '22. Ryan should definitely get in because he could absolutetly beat him.

A Germany style MMPR system would work best. Need to increase the size of the House.

There's all the rules we know about fighting fascism -- don't obey in advance, stand together, etc. Another one is don't let "norms" prevent you from undermining fascist movements. Garland utterly failed in that regard.

As a kid, it was appointment viewing to watch Baseball Tonight at 10pm ET and begging my parents to let me stay up to watch the whole episode.

You could probably get Grok to fall in on itself asking for specific evidence of those claims.
November 12, 2025 at 2:50 PM
So if you have 22 without touching Fairfax then gerrymandering a super majority must not be an issue at all, right?
November 12, 2025 at 2:47 PM
Those aren't numbers that Kean is likely to lose with...
November 11, 2025 at 9:03 PM
Also competitive maps are good for democracy, kind of an own goal for Ds here.
November 11, 2025 at 4:49 PM
What, you didn't like trading a generational superstar in his mid 20s for a pick and an aging big with injury issues?
November 11, 2025 at 3:44 PM
I believe if the Rs held the House he'd get another term as Chair of the committee so very odd that he'd jump ship unless he feels like using up his last term as Ranking Member isn't worth the time.
