This looks amazing. I would love to drive a non-Ferrari with an interior this nice.

“We just give the bots the Internet, and we go make our own.”
- Casey Newton on Hard Fork

I cracked up. He’s describing the Blackwall from Cyberpunk 2077 (and earlier). I don’t see how this would work in practice, but yeah, this is the dystopia we were promised […]

I liked the first season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, but the writing in this trailer is just awful. The dramatic trailer all caps words are more eloquent than what the humans are saying.

The Dark Queen of Mortholme can be finished in a lunch break. The writing doesn’t quite grasp what it’s reaching for, but you can see it. I enjoyed myself.

It gives you a lot of empathy for Dark Souls bosses whose attack patterns can’t quite hit that dodge-rolling jerk.

I'm fascinated by this. Starting the countdown until it gets shut down, surely. I assume the whole thing was made with AI given the language on the landing page.

I tried Sand Land. And it’s really bad. Boring writing, poor pacing, clunky combat, uninteresting driving. It kept my kids entertained, but it’s so unpolished I’m falling asleep.

The moon had this amazing ring on it tonight. It looked like there had been a shockwave from the moon that pushed the clouds away.

The picture isn’t right. There wasn’t anything between the bright moon and the edge of the ring. Had to see it in person.

My iWork app icons got updated to the new style. I don’t hate it? At least they still work. It’s a little fun having some Liquid Glass icons on the nice OSes.

I tried UpScrolled for a minute. The app smoothness and server issues are expected for where they are in development.

What struck me as interesting was the complete lack of moderation and global filtering. I’m seeing posts in all kinds of languages. AI slop with talking Hitler.

I don’t use […]

Highguard isn’t for me, which is fine. I enjoyed ARC Raiders for a couple weeks and was satisfied.

Things I liked about Highguard:
- Excellent UI and font choices
- The painterly aesthetic is a unique, subtle look, nicely done
- Good character designs, mostly (why is Final Fight’s Guy there?) […]

I got an Xbox 360 with Kinect to play some games I remember. My kids love it. Getting the sensor the right distance is tricky as always.

After I set it up with the wired controller, I got rid of it. All you can do with the 360 now is insert a disc and play a Kinect game. Works great.

We […]

What's wrong with this keyboard?

My 2021 MacBook Pro 16" has been well-loved, and I tried replacing its keycaps with fresh ones from iFixIt. But there were a couple keys that wouldn't work: the "v" and return keys. I'm sort of fine with return, but the […]

My plan to rewrite this Claude RPG code by myself, by reading tutorials and carefully inspecting each line, has hit a bit of a snag.

I found a tutorial that walks through the steps of building a dialog box system from scratch, with bloops and BBCode pauses and all that good stuff.

But it's for […]

So the Golden Globes does have a category for podcasts.

I love that these goobers want a prize next year. I enjoy their show, but they have a ways to go to compare to the actual best tech podcast, which rhymes with the Mergeblast […]

In another fit of “I hate you Apple, here’s more money” I bought a refurbished 2024 M4 MacBook Pro to upgrade my otherwise identical 2021 M1 Pro. It has slightly more RAM and an anti-glare screen. Otherwise identical.

I’m not sure I’ll keep it. It really […]

I journal during the week while I’m at the office. Just have a OneNote page open and keep a short log of what’s going on each day. I started this during COVID when I was at home all day and losing my mind.

I’ve always wanted to do this in my personal life, but I don’t want to spend the time […]

It's sweet of LEGO to include Velociraptor and Titanosaurus as characters on the box. I know they try to create distance with the green background, but no, Titanosaurus is as much a person as Martin Krebs and his jauntily stained shirt.

I successfully went back to an iPhone 16 Pro running iOS 18.6.2. I bought it from some lady on Facebook Marketplace for essentially retail price, and took it to the Apple Store to get a crack in the front screen replaced.

It was harrowing! They told me there was a chance that the machine would […]

iOS 26 asks if you like the color of the sky.

I read too much Tumblr.

I upgraded to iOS 26 and do regret it. It feels even more juvenile. Also like I’m stuck in someone’s shimmery bubble fetish.

But it’s not all bad. Most things are basically where […]

TISSAIA: Another two apprentices dead. Is there something wrong with my program? Should I not be asking teenagers to act as human lightning rods? This is going to cast a pall on tonight’s Tide Pod Challenge.
