As biking becomes more accessible, fewer cars lead to less traffic and safer streets which make biking more accessible, creating a cycle that benefits everyone.

For drivers, every person on a bike means one less car at the light. Every person who’s able to live without a car means one more empty parking spot on the block.

The reason there are more cyclists every year in #NYC is because the city is making it safer for people who were previously afraid to ride in heavy traffic.

But we know they’re coming, partly thanks to this street redesign. I use this bike lane frequently as it’s the only safe E-W route in the area, and so do many others. But even if it no one used it yet, it would still a major step toward a safe, connected bike network.

Their persistence epitomized Rabbi Tarfon’s lesson that "It’s not your responsibility to finish the work, but neither can we abandon it.”
