I use Boots' wax ear plugs - warm them in your hand before putting in your ears, and it blocks out most noises. You'll still be able to hear your alarm etc, and you can use them more than once (I use them until they don't work any more). They're usually in the aisle with the first aid stuff.

I find the best thing is to use Met Ofiice website, type in your town and then click on the local map and use the down arrow (top right) to check for rain, wind, cloud cover etc. The forecast seems to be a general one to be for a whole area. I usually cross reference with Accuweather or wetter .de.

Gorgeous day - summer's last hurrah - so went for a long walk across the cliffs.

Met these gorgeous lads - the one in the middle was outstanding in his field.

I dry my washing outside all year round. You just need to know what the humidity forecast is - as long as it's under 70-75%ish, your washing will dry outside even if it is cold. Better if there is full sunshine and /or breezy. I use the Met Office website, which gives the humidity %.

I went to Warsaw years ago, and have a postcard somewhere that shows that view after WWII and what it looks like now. They rebuilt the Old Town after the War using old pictures.

Damn this North Wind, it's too early for it to be this cold. Only 7°C here in East Sussex last night - I had to have a hot water bottle.
