Dressed as a witch in a hand knit ghost sweater, watching Beetlejuice, munching candy, and spinning yarn - what could be better? Happy Halloween, yarny friends! #spinning #handspinning 🧶

When you knit a tiny pumpkin, you make your cat wear it as a hat, of course. Pattern is Teeny Tiny Pumpkins by Anna Tracy, available on Ravelry, yarn is Jamieson & Smith 2 Ply Jumper Weight, cat is Amos. 🧶 🎃

4 days of progress! I did a bit more after this and even though there's still room on the arms, I'm definitely feeling the extra weight, so it might be time to take off the cop and start again.

It's also a really lovely day for a mildly moody walk through the woods, just fyi.

I am trying again to make friends with a drop spindle, and I think I have to accept that my 33g Turkish just can't do thin singles. Which is fine, because this Shaniko Tweed from 316 Dye Studios (in the appropriately named Lite-Brite color) will look pretty good as a DK/worsted 2-ply. #handspun 🧶

Very lucky to have a husband who can print more bobbins when I run out! My current project has filled 4 of my 6 bobbins with no end in sight, so I may yet end up needing a few more, but not for a few weeks. #handspinning 🧶

Desperately trying to will sweater weather into existence with a new cast on. This is The Botanist by @theacolman.bsky.social in @purlsoho.bsky.social Hedgerow, a merino Donegal tweed with a smidge of cashmere and silk. #knitting 🧶

Taking lunch in my car and knitting while parked outside a cemetery seems super appropriate for September. The Musselburgh hat seems never ending - this is only half a hat - but that was kind of the point, a project that is super easy to pick up and put down and will keep me busy for a while. 🧶

Steeking and blocking done, all that's left to do is sew a few buttons! #knitting #handspinning 🧶

Our camping trip was..not ideal (dog got injured at the sitters, car broke down two states away from home, and it was so cold and rainy that we left a day early), but we're having a nice do-over with hot dogs, s'mores and knitting by the fire pit in our own backyard. #knitting #handspinning 🧶

My handspun sweater is trucking along! I have a hard deadline to finish because I preemptively entered it in the Big E, and entry drop off is on 9/2. That's cutting it a bit close for me, but I have grand knitting plans for my upcoming vacation week. #spinning #handspinning #knitting 🧶

I went to bed with the best intentions to work hard and get everything off my desk before vacation, but of course now that I'm here I'm totally checked out... Anyway, less work, more yarn. Here's a cute Louise Pullover Kids from Northside Knits in Knit Picks Heatherly that I made for a coworker. 🧶

I needed a break from socks so I started a Musselburgh hat by @ysoldaknits.bsky.social for my new travel project. Perfect for knitting on the deck until it got too dark to see! 🧶

I fell off the #tourdefleece wagon so hard. My travel project for my work trip was no good - short staple wool that I wanted to spin thin for socks does not go with a heavy spindle - and I was swamped with homework when I got back. Still, I finished my handspun socks on the plane! #knitting 🧶

Nope, no actual spinning yesterday, but I'm not calling it a rest day because I dyed just over 3 pounds of fiber... Now the garage smells like vinegar and wet dog!
July 13, 2025 at 3:56 PM
Days 7 and 8 of #tourdefleece! I finished spinning the last of my dyed Romney last night, and decided to dye some more today. I took no measurements or notes for any of this - pure vibe dyeing! Not sure yet if any actual spinning will take place today... #handspinning #handdyeing 🧶

Days 3-6 of #tourdefleece! Work and homework are seriously interfering with my spinning schedule, but I managed to finish another bobbin and start my travel project. I'm also now half way through Dungeon Crawler Carl 4, which I coincidentally started on day 1 of the tour. #handspinning 🧶
July 11, 2025 at 12:08 AM
Day 2 of #tourdefleece! I only spun for a half hour, and that might be it because it is unpleasantly hot and humid and I have homework due today. Still, I finished this bobbin of singles and weighed my remaining fiber. I'll do a bit more carding later to be ready for tomorrow. #handspinning 🧶
July 6, 2025 at 3:54 PM
Day one complete! The 3 batts I prepared ahead of time spun up in about 2 hours, which is much faster than I expected, and nearly filled 1 bobbin. I carded two more bats and probably have enough dyed wool for 8-10 more. Now to decide if I should dye the other 2 pounds or spin it as is...

Indie decided to join me for the #tourdefleece kick off. My goals are to spin every day, spin all of this Romney fleece, and get my new (to me) Country Craftsman wheel up and running. If I finish the Romney, I also have a pound of merino to dye and blend with sari silk. #handspinning #handspun 🧶

Practicing core spinning onto fairy lights! USB lights are much brighter than battery lights, and while I'm very pleased I can plug them into a timer and not worry about batteries, the brightness overpowers the color of the fiber a bit. #handspinning #handspunyarn #artyarn 🧶

My first (successful, not-immediately-on-the-verge-of-disintegration) handspun sock! The opposing ply yarn really feels amazing and squishy, yet dense and sturdy. I do not usually suffer from second sock syndrome, but #tourdefleece starts soon... #sockcuterie #handspinning #knitsky #yarn 🧶

#sockcuterie has commenced! I'm knitting Rose City Rollers in yarn I dyed and spun. Most of this knitting has sadly been without snacks, but it was fun to put together a pretty board to accompany the cast on. Is anyone else knitting socks this month? #knitting #knitsky #handspun #handspunyarn 🧶

Spinning workshops are my happy place 🥰 Today, Emily of @bricolagestudios.bsky.social taught the Nutmeg Spinners fiber blending and core spinning on wire, including spinning onto a fairy light core. This might be the coolest thing I have ever made! #handspinning #wool #silk #yarn 🧶

We have a swatch, perfectly 8 stitches per inch! It biases a tiny bit, which is not too surprising, and is wonderfully smooth and squishy.
