Does beg the question.... And I did like the pre Nestle version.....

If Labour do go for a leadership change, then I do see Ed Miliband as a realistic option. But is Keir Starmer really under threat. Who knows.

Some of the thinking seems to be that this will delay the release of the Epstein files, if there is an open case that would draw on documents as evidence. If so, they'll rush to set the investigation up, but then ensure it takes years to complete.

Bet its coke really.

If this budget is the Chess game, she hasn't made any moves yet! Instead, a lot of people have speculated or made moves for her. When she finally does make a move, it could be a wrong one of course. But she has not announced her move.

The Guardian is doing similar today.

But how can you u-turn on something you never officially announced?
November 14, 2025 at 5:03 PM
But we are clueless as to who they are. So we don't know if the y are credible or not. That is my problem with all of this.
November 14, 2025 at 4:48 PM
Who has been briefing though? Not saying you are wrong. But is it Ministers, Civil Servants, MPs, Larry the Cat? We here a lot about "sources'. But unless I've missed it, no member of the government has gone on record to say income tax rates will rise.
November 14, 2025 at 4:37 PM
This comment should really be directed to Sky News and other media outlets who throw all of this speculation out to their viewers/readers. The Government aren't saying anything.
November 14, 2025 at 4:31 PM
Best to wait and see what they actually do in the budget. All we have at the moment is speculation and "sources" saying the government are doing this and that. Ministers haven't said anything really. So let's wait and see what the reality will be.

The versions they have now are absolutely dire.
November 14, 2025 at 4:21 PM
They are doing good things, despite the misteps. But not using the majority to do more is such a missed opportunity.
November 14, 2025 at 2:41 PM
They should be bolder in rebalancing society. I suspect they were surprised by the overall majority. The first year was a massive chance to review and add to the manifesto priorities and get legislation progressed, giving 4 years for it to start to bear fruit
November 14, 2025 at 2:39 PM
Exactly. And the journalists know this as it's been that way for years, decades even. So a lot of this is at best, deliberate mischief making.
November 14, 2025 at 2:33 PM
Of course Kruger will carry on repeating the same tired lies in other meetings where there won't be a Ken Clarke equivalent to pull them apart. The faithful will lap it all up.
November 14, 2025 at 2:24 PM
Exactly. Just in the minds of mischievous or malicious journalists or news editors. Might have to make a list of which journalists/editors are in which camp. That said, if governments let speculation/gossip run, it is going to allow this behaviour.
November 14, 2025 at 2:11 PM
It's shitty. And in the current climate, destabilising.
November 14, 2025 at 12:22 PM
The BBC could provide the most simple, factual, neutral reporting in its news coverage. It could be immaculate. But as soon as people then apply their own take on it, you can have people providing very different assessments. The BBC can never win when it comes to countering bias accusations.
November 14, 2025 at 12:21 PM
Exactly this.

Thing that really frustrates is that Kemali Melbourne in particular can be really good. But today was so lazy and also creating a false narrative around a U-turn. Grrrrrrrrrr.
