Happy 80th birthday to one of music’s all time greatest cranks. Neil Young’s birthday oughta be a holiday, even for us Yanks who often don’t deserve him.

Oh wow, RIP to Brent Hinds of Mastodon. A troubled guy, but an absolute monster guitarist. His work with Mastodon was incredible and this is not the ending his story deserved.

30 years gone. When he died I had just barely started exploring the Dead. Within a year Hundred Year Hall and Skeletons in the Closet started getting regular play in my rotation. 30 years later rarely a day goes by where I don’t hear at least a little of his music. Miss him all the same.
