To use their preferred bill name, to grant them that messaging space in the first 10 words of a tweet or a memo headline, is to fail the test.

We live in a soundbite world, where attention is fleeting and the need to create a signal for people to hear through the noise is vital.

I can understand media outlets needing to use thier moniker, but for progressives who position themselves as experts on narrative, it’s the clearest tell they aren’t.

Probably Nah.

But people showed up and got loud. And the progressive media ecosystem needs to evolve, quickly, to recognize the importance of amplifying local stories like this. 13/13

This school district is in Plymouth Township Michigan, which Harris won by 1.36%, or 264 votes. Not exactly a deep blue town. 12/13

But silence only lets their narrative fill the void. 11/13

It’s driven by fear from the effectiveness of a right-wing narrative– a narrative that has been pushed through a coordinated and multi-platform media blitz. 10/13

Second, this story has narrative power that contrasts with right-wing narratives on race, transgender kids, and education. The dominant discourse, at times, suggests progressives should be silent on diversity and race, or silent on respecting trans kids. 9/13

But then in June, locals showed up in droves demanding that their school board respect all kids. 4/13

The TLDR story: In May, Turning Point USA flew in 6 people from out of state to bully the school board (…because I guess they don’t want us to treat all students with respect, and foster an inclusive and safe learning environment). In other words, they sent in “paid agitators.” 3/13

It wasn’t on MSNBC. When I searched for “Plymouth-Canton” on Bluesky I found 2 posts. On X, 3 posts, and one was from May from Turning Point with 10 times the reach as the other two. 2/13
