Pssh. Tim Buckley and Nick Drake co-wrote like a third of that song. They came up with that "marry him your father will condone you" line after a writers block fueled trip to a bar in Montreal where they ran into Leonard Cohen. It's where the Spin Doctors guy got the inspiration for Desolation Row.
