Nice first attempt! I like how you kept the Oiii influence subtle, letting it accent the Ha and not overwhelm it.

Does it really count as a proper session if there are no surprises? 🤪

Congrats on first light with your mono setup!

Really nice processing! You’ve got that Tak dialed in nicely 😊

How does taking pictures of birds turn into astrophotography? Well, one evening I was tracking a bird in flight and saw the moon. Thought to myself, "I wonder if I can take a picture of the moon". Down the rabbit hole I went 😀. Here's that picture of the #moon that got me hooked on the #nightsky.

You have a nice, portable widefield rig. As others have mentioned, a good next step would be a dedicated, cooled camera. For the same field of view as your T8i, and ensuring compatibility with your ASIAir, there is the ZWO 2600 series. Maybe a dual bandpass filter to capture those emission nebulae.

Wow! You got some great detail from the 8”. Seeing must have been really good. Excellent image 😊

This little gem is also known as NGC 7048. Discovered in 1878 by Édouard Stephan using a 31.5" reflector telescope. Here's the wiki page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NGC_7048

There are quite a few different objects in this image. One that caught my eye is in the upper left, right at the top of the image. At first I thought it was a star, but when Star Xterminator didn't remove it, I took a closer look. Turns out it's a #planetarynebula! Can you find it in the image?

@kat-astro-bot.bsky.social would you be so kind as to provide astrometry data, please?
January 15, 2025 at 2:37 AM
Assume you're talking about the Askar SQA55. Yeah, I'm not sure why they went with the helical focuser on it. Maybe they're trying to attract the terrestrial photographers with it, too. After all it's got an aperture diaphragm like a typical DSLR lens. Certainly looks like a nice scope, though!

Aberration Inspector after BXT applied. Tilt-B-Gone 😀

Here's the aberration inspector of the Sii master.
January 14, 2025 at 9:45 PM
Downloaded the data. You've got a bit of tilt in your setup. Stars on the upper right suffer the most. BXT handles it quite nicely, though. Also, 1G per master! Definitely putting my 14900K, 64G RAM and 4070 Super to work 😂

Wow! Exceptionally creative image! I just take pictures of things in the sky (and sometimes things here on our little blue marble). You're an artist 😍

Thanks! Had fun playing around with the color palette on this one.
January 12, 2025 at 8:49 PM
Followed you as well. That's a nice image of the Rosette you did 😀

Thanks for the compliment. Don’t get discouraged! Getting good results takes a lot of time and practice 😊. I still have a lot to learn.
