These ghosts dwelled in hollow trees, gray, moldy, and terrifying. Their piercing screams, like a distorted goose’s cry, shone so brightly they lit the road’s sand. This is an illustration for a book about Swedish folklore I’m creating. #Folklore #GhostStories #Sweden

In Swedish folklore, the gasten is a ghostly figure of those who died violently or were denied sacred burial. It roams at night, appearing as a headless body or glowing skeleton, or as an owl in the air. Found deep in forests or between farms, it haunts the dark. #Folklore #GhostStories #art
