Nerdy Texan living in Scotland
I think it works, if nothing else because it gives you lots of great iconography to work with?

I thought I was ordering a translation, but I should have checked more carefully. So now I get to fumble through 15th century #Scots poetry.

I’m having a great time, it’s just slow going, and I need to read everything aloud in the accent of an old man from Fife

Total time from getting my dual British Citizenship to getting instagram ads asking me to renounce my US citizenship: 3 days

Official first pint in a pub.

I think I should start arguing about football* or something?

Officially a British citizen. The pledge to a king was pretty weird, but I managed to control my inner-American long enough. Now time to drink tea, wear a kilt, and complain about the French!

If he doesn’t fix this with Daggerheart, we’ll know he’s truly lost…

(Side note: the art for the ‘fling ally’ feat in 3.5 is still one of my favorite art pieces from all of D&D)

12 years ago today I was apparently at GenCon with @tomlommel.com playing Worlds Worst Dungeon Crawl.

I had a blast playing the game; but was so jet lagged I was almost hallucinating, surviving on a diet of sugar and caffeine; then collapsed with ConCrud as soon as I got back to Scotland. #ttrpg

Well, it’s officially happening. Gotta go swear allegiance to the king.

Honestly, this also sounds like the best D&D party ever.

In case you were wondering how I do my world building for #dnd

Spent last night building more of the Rivendell #LotR #Lego set. It’s significantly more complicated than we expected, and I think we’re only halfway done! But I appreciate that they put dumb LotR references in the instructions.
I’m annoying my wife by having Gimli kissing a random elf on the bridge

Now I’m just thinking of Buster Bluth.

Me, trying to figure out how to voice my support for the “No Kings” rallies in the US while simultaneously knowing I have to swear allegiance to King Charles in my UK citizenship ceremony later this year.

My son decided to sleep in this morning, so I was 30 minutes late getting my cat breakfast. I guess she interpreted this as “I’ve been abandoned and will never be fed; I must fend for myself,” so when I opened the door she ran in and deposited a dead headless mouse under the table.

Took a day off work last week to go down to Culross with the family. Because what’s the point in living in Scotland if you don’t go see ruined abbeys?

We spent the afternoon wandering through a state park, looking at alligators.

I have never kept such a close eye on all children and pets.

Baby’s first Christmas in the Green house.

I don’t care much about matching pajamas, but tiny Rudolph socks are 👌

I don’t understand how he sleeps with his neck like this, but I’m not going to wake him up to ask. Knitted hat courtesy of a kind old lady in Northern Ireland.

Living overseas during the election is this feeling, constantly:

Sent off my absentee ballot. I’m still considered Texas based, so I doubt it will make a difference. But I cling to the hope of seeing both Cruz and Trump out of power…

This also means I can mute election related content for the next month without guilt; which is the real victory here.

I have resisted for 15 years. But I'm finally breaking down and going to the dark side.

I assume the next month will be me swearing at my phone because I can't figure out how to do anything.

I'm hardly the first one to say this, but the #NaNoWriMo organization (y'know, the one that is about people writing and being creative?) becoming an AI shill is absolutely mind-blowing.

Saying that everyone opposed to #AI is ableist & classest is such a desperate hijacking of progressive terms.

Got up early this morning to write, ended up snuggling a tiny man instead.
