His voice is just loathsome.

I’d like to think if Mr. Obama wanted to cheat, he would rig it for his preferred candidate to win.🤔

Prolly not, it is named after a prominent slave trader-seems like that shoulda bought them more slack.

I understand your disappointment, but I suspect most lawmakers don’t go into a legislative negotiation thinking they’re gonna get everything they want.

Then, on August 6th of that same year they passed via reconciliation (with Manchin’s help) the IRA -the largest pro-climate bill in history- after convincing McConnell it was dead with stories like these so his membership could vote for the CHIPs act if they wanted to.

It was genius.

Yes, but, this stuff is going to absolutely slaughter the poorest among us. It’s tragic.

What I found interesting was contrasting this with his praise for President Carter last week, who, had publicly stated that Israel’s behavior is a huge barrier to peace in the Middle East.

I suppose people see what they want to see.🤷🏼‍♂️

Though the Cold War (and the Kissinger doctrine) did force some evil bedfellows on us, you’d have a hard time prosecuting that case.

His administration didn’t drop a bomb, shoot a bullet, or invade anyone else.

I’d take his foreign policy over Kissinger’s any day.

He was right about the diminishment of Communism, and his mistake was listening to Brzezinski, and the other hawks who didn’t get it.
December 31, 2024 at 5:30 AM
You are incorrect.

Read about Patricia Murphy Derian, or the radical change in the U.S. attitude towards foreign relations from Nixon/Ford/Kissinger to Carter/Vance.🤷🏼‍♂️

That he saw the world through the lens of the Cold War (and his NSA), should not be a shock.

What is shocking is he was the first president ever to factor human rights into the conduct of our foreign policy.

That he didn’t weigh it enough by our standards is post Cold War hindsight.

Challenged him-the sitting President of his own party-in the 1980 primary, cleaving the Democrats.

Wasn’t just Republicans.

Fellow Southern Baptists, and Ted Kennedy betrayed him too.

I do remember, and I’ll raise you.

The embassy was taken the day after we allowed the Shah on US soil.

Carter fearing a backlash had for months refused his entry despite Kissinger and David Rockefeller’s lobbying.

(Falsely) told the Shah would die w/o treatment here he reluctantly acquiesced.

It wasn’t just the right wingers.

The established media centers of NYC & DC always held the Georgians (Southerners) in contempt, the left hated his responsible fiscal policies, and labor hated his pro-consumer deregulation policies.

He was a great man.

Do we really believe the entire DOJ, and the House would have been dragging him if he weren’t the President’s son?

Dude has endured a severe extra-judicial penalty for his crimes, it’s time to move on.

Then there’s the convo about the larger you print, almost always means the further the viewing distance, and the lower the DPI required.

It’s impossible to not sound like an asshole, or you’re avoiding work, explaining it.

Painful.

The number of times I’ve explained this to otherwise smart people.

Hopefully when the professional sphere is entirely populated by digital native people it’ll sink in.

I don’t think X in its present form really features the major concern of our fellow citizens.

Namely, the cost of living.

It’s there, but it’s awash in all manner of other RW talking points that aren’t really where people are.🤷🏼‍♂️

For me, it’d just be explanatory, to answer the Fox narrative:

Democrats want to pass _____ because:

A. __________
B. __________

In my mind we have enough comedians making the case on the channels we watch.
