the best time to bike around the city is during the #superbowl 🚲🏈 the roads were nice and calm while i made my way from westchester to santa monica. i even had time to pick up guac and chips and make it home before the halftime show!

i just got back from walking through downtown #santamonica to get from the movies to the metro train home. it's a holiday, people have the day off. but the streets are empty. you can feel a heavy cloud of depression in the air. and it isn't because of the wildfires.

the #palisadesfire is still burning with 0% containment. i'm in #santamonica altho not in an evacuation zone, mandatory nor warning. wind gusts have died down, so while the smoke was being blown away all night, it's starting to settle down. no blue sky here; it's particulate mask time 😷

i biked to the coastal overlook at the california incline in santa monica last night to get an idea of the fury of the #franklinfire in #malibu. this is how it looked from 12 miles away (and no, i'm not insane enough to bike there in these conditions!)
