This article is really odd, and proves again that the ibtimes cannot be trusted. There have been many admirable American-Jewish socialists but Eugene Debs was not one of them. His parents were French Protestants.

We are misled if we start out from the idea that the NYT is a liberal newspaper that unfortunately keeps making errors of judgement. It has become a right wing rag and the remaining good journalists are hanging on because they need the job.

We do not need them. The equivalent of Medicare for All works extremely well in Canada, France and quite a number of other countries. The idea we can't have it is the ultimate 'special interest' argument.
