Inspired by @ethanmarcotte.com, I’ve made a silly new website called gif.land — an online home for all my favourite GIFs. It’s glued together with Cloudflare R2, a @tur.so SQLite DB and next.js. I’ve blogged about it too: jonheslop.com/posts/2025/gif-land
Currently divesting myself from Vercel. I replatformed gif.land over the weekend. It was Next.js on Vercel and it’s now Astro and Cloudflare. I put a little note up on my blog about the transition jonheslop.com/posts/2025/d...

I love twiglets but they are also totally mental. So dry, so twig like. Imagine offering them to someone who didn’t know the concept nor grown up with them.

I am utterly delighted by this subversive use of the Bluesky label feature, where you can subscribe to a custom app that then adds visible labels to profiles

Whilst it quite exciting watching this get big very quickly, and sure Bluesky’s algo is kinder right now. It reminds me of this brilliant and elegant essay/thing Robin Sloan wrote/built about the inherent problem with runaway engagement and communication at scale www.robinsloan.com/special/plat...

Maybe bluesky should be where I post about birds. I saw these two this morning. Deffo not Curlews. Could be be sand pipers but I thought their beaks looked too skinny. So maybe godwits???

Finally jumped ship, I somehow was in some twitter bubble where I wasn’t really seeing the grim stuff others seemed to (I never read replies and only looked on following) BUT Twitter mostly died for me when I couldn’t use Tweetbot anymore.

Finally jumped ship, I somehow was in some twitter bubble where I wasn’t really seeing the grim stuff others seemed to (I never read replies and only looked on following) BUT Twitter mostly died for me when I couldn’t use Tweetbot anymore.
