Nearly missed out on a picture for the summer event! Glad I remembered before the new boat went away for the year, possibly for good. Will say, the course this year was definitely easier than the Eorzean Ninja Warrior course, but a nice change nonetheless.
What if things were just a little bit different for the man who fell through the rift? In the hot days of summer, the populace of the world enjoy a time of cool waters and cooled drinks. However, where there are times of enjoyment on the surface, there are also dangers that lurk within the deep. On that front, one man stays on guard, ever vigilant to spot and rescue those who may find themselves in trouble... and preferably not in slow motion for dramatic effect.

Shoot, 9 day update again. Man took nine days to write his name in a book. At least on the plus side, the duration between posts is consistent. And so is the amount of text in each picture. Take the wins you get.
Upon writing his new name within the ledger, Baderon took it up to look at the somewhat confidently written words within. His eyes narrowed as he looked between the ledger and the new adventurer... "Jonathan Fortnight... 'tis an odd name..." ...he soon relaxed his gaze and smiled. "...but still a fine name as any other. Not as if I 'ad seen stranger ones before. Some folk havin' me question their true motives. Regardless, yer now an upstandin' member o' the 'Venturers' Guild. Congratulations." Jonathan let out a sigh of relief and relaxed his stance. His first big step into this new world was complete. He was now a new man. "Now, before ye get off to waltzin' around outside, ye might want to 'ead down that lift again, an' go to the big crystal ye might've seen. That there's an aetheryte. Hold yer hand out to it, an' then you can call Limsa Lominsa yer proper 'ome. What ye do from there is yer own choice." Jonathan nods to the tavernkeep and walks back to the lift to take it down to Bulwark Hall. Before the lift begins to move, he hears one more piece of encouragement from Baderon. "Carve yer path in the world, and let 'em know that Baderon Tenfingers sent ye!" Now on his own within the grand city-state, Jonathan finally had time to absorb the sights and sounds. The salty sea breeze, the crashing waves, the entire civilization of wood and stone crafted above the waters. There were only a few locations he had visited that could manage staying dry throughout a flood, but nothing to this scale. There was so much more to wonder about Limsa Lominsa and the world as a whole, but he had one goal in mind: to call somewhere in this land "home". Jonathan walked up to the giant glowing crystal that Baderon had directed him to. Towering within the main grounds, it stood as a symbol for adventurers who wanted to return home. For business, for pleasure, perhaps for a means of escape, the aetheryte stood tall with a gentle glow and a calming hum. All Jonathan had to do was follow Baderon's advice. Nothing special, just hold your hand out to the big crystal and it'll do the rest. Still feeling cautious, Jonathan slowly lifted a finger towards the aetheryte... Just then, like a bolt of lightning, Jonathan was struck by a veritable wave of memories as he attempted to attune. He stumbled down to his knees as various moments of his life flashed before him. Every moment he saw, he remembered clearly. The inhabitants of his own reality, the seemingly endless repeating battles, the encroaching storms, and the rocket that ripped a hole through dimensions just above that abandoned city and started his entire adventure. Where are those inhabitants now? Would they ever see him again? Would the loops finally stop? With those questions and more circling his mind, the grip of the aetheryte's soon loosened, leaving Jonathan dazed and weakened. His attunement to the aetheryte was complete.

At last, an uninterrupted period of time where I can continue this thing. Maybe next time, I should not wait a week. Lessons to learn.
After awakening and climbing back onto his feet from the impact, the inhabitant slowly walked his way towards the Zephyr Gate, towards a possible destination for his safety... only to be stopped by his first perceived threat: a hulking man with a sheathed axe and a sharp stare guarding the path. "Don't think that our scouts didn't see you stumbling up here after that fall you had. Practically appeared out of thin air, and you have the gall to think that you've any right of passage into Limsa Lominsa. There's enough trouble as is with the damned sahagin swimming up to shore, not to mention reports of kidnapping from the ship that just docked. I ought to bring you in for questioning..." The guard eyes the inhabitant up and down, noticing his already battered body, worn clothes, lack of weapon, and trembling stance, before letting out a exasperated sigh. "...but I suppose you've already been through enough. Given your unusual entrance and no connection to the threats around us, I'll let you pass this time. Make your way across the bridge and into the lift at your first opportunity. And don't cause any more trouble than you already have." Letting out a sigh of relief, the inhabitant nods towards the guard and makes his way into the grand city. Following the guard's advice and with no time to enjoy the sights, the inhabitant took the first lift up to The Drowning Wench, a tavern frequented by pirate and businessfolk alike. Upon stepping out of the lift, the man at the bar beckoned the inhabitant towards him, noticing a lost soul looking for their purpose or perhaps a stiff drink. The proprietor introduced himself as Baderon Tenfingers, a hardened but cheerful man, and retired mercenary. Although the inhabitant was wondering exactly where his path had taken him between realities, he was comfortable with Baderon's explanations of the city-state, of the goings-on both outside and within, and a strange disaster that struck the land known as the Calamity. But one detail that stuck in the inhabitant's mind was the mention of heroes who bravely stood in the face of danger to save their world, though their own faces are oddly forgotten by the masses, known as the "Warriors of Light". Would it be possible that this is the inhabitant's destiny, to become one such Warrior? Before he could find an answer to his own question, Baderon had caught himself rambling and quieted down. He had seen a purpose in this strange man, a rookie adventurer who could one day be something far greater. And to Baderon, any aid given to such adventurers is effort well spent. With that thought, he slid the book in front of him toward the inhabitant, alongside an inked quill beside it. The book itself was a ledger meant to document up-and-coming men and women to join the Adventurers' Guild proper. Not only for the sake of employment, but to make a name for themselves in the greater world. With all preparations made, Baderon said one simple sentence to the inhabitant with a smile. "Put yer scrawl right there." From that point, the inhabitant's mind was suddenly caught in a battle against itself. All from a simple request. A name. Just a name. An identifier for all others who would meet him. His thoughts raced from what he knew now to what he experienced before his sudden arrival. (What WOULD be a good name... I have one, clearly, but I couldn't just write it there. If I'm known between realities, there's others who could track me down. Perhaps an alias could do, if that's even allowed, but what...) (Maybe... Drift? That makes sense. Concise, mysterious, and not easily identified. Of course, if I somehow make it back, that would put more folks against me. It would also be a hard sell to convince others I'm part of that clan of ninjas...) (Black Knight? That certainly sounds the part. A tough and strong name, though I can't exactly call myself that with how I look now. What I'd give to meet the one who set up Garridan with his full suit of armor...) (Renegade Raider... I think that matches me down to a T. I'm new to this reality, but I can scrap like the best of them. Done it plenty of times. But... I shouldn't do that to her. She's going through enough as is, wouldn't want to steal the name she made...) With these thoughts and more racking his brain, he knew he couldn't delay his choice any longer, lest Baderon starts thinking he's spaced out from the sea breeze. With a deep breath and a now calmed mind, he took the quill and wrote his new name into the ledger...

So that event in Fortnite OG was pretty cool, huh? Even if I've seen it once before years ago, it's interesting to experience it again. But what if...
An inhabitant of this reality, adorned in a green and tan uniform and wielding his harvesting tool of choice, stands on top of the tallest building of the island. The rocket being launched, intended to be used as a vessel to travel between different worlds, stops ascending into the air and turns downward, targeting the abandoned city. For all the inhabitant knows, the rocket is on a collision course headed straight for him, towards destruction of the city, but this was the plan from the beginning. Just before impact, the rocket tears a rift into the skies, teleporting it into times and places unknown. With its supposedly successful transport, the rift itself remains in the sky for a few moments before it begins to close, but not before taking the lone inhabitant with it, leaving the city more barren than it was before. As the departure leaves the other inhabitants in surprise and wonder, and perhaps in a spot of dance, fate has given the one lone traveler a different purpose. As the inhabitant drifts within space, he sees multiple realities pass him by in waves. He feels an odd sense of familiarity with some of the images within the shards, as if he had seen others on the island with similar appearances, even those who he believes may not have originated from his reality at all. As his descent (or possible ascent) speeds up, he soon passes out, with his final destination unknown. Eventually, the inhabitant touches down in a field battered by the elements, looking somewhat worse for wear but otherwise stable. Close to him is a grand city-state, home to seafarers of many different races and creeds, and all with dreams of their own. He may not know it now, but when he awakens, the roads he travels and the adventures he'll endure will be far beyond anything his own reality has offered before.
