Then people need to show up to the primaries for a change. The amount of people every cycle who don’t show up to primaries and then act like the choices were forced upon them is maddening. This goes for all elections, not just presidential.

It’s a worthy goal to be above the fray and try to be an idealist, I just don’t think this is the time for that. There are ample examples in these comments why that is the case. The first goal is stop the bleeding so we can survive, then we can worry about the rest.

I am a proponent of ranked choice, but I won’t deny there is a lot of dumb out there. Hell, for all I know, I’m a dumbass, who knows.

Ranked choice voting is the superior way to vote, in addition, there should not be closed primaries. Primaries should be all inclusive and the top 4 or 5 go though to the general.

I agree, I still think it’s on individuals to think for themselves, I have a hard time blaming media for the current state of things. Honestly, I think most of us in the USA are just dumb assholes.

The media sucks, you are 100% correct, but my thoughts and opinions aren’t formed by the media. I think getting sick shouldn’t lead to bankruptcy because it’s the right thing to do. I think people of any ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, etc should be treated with decency because it’s right.

In fairness, it wasn’t the Iraq war that was the quagmire, it was Afghanistan and the fact we didn’t leave after Tora Bora when we completely botched capturing/killing Bin Laden. That effectively lead to about 20 years of bullshit. 4,5, and 6 on your list are for sure legit tho.

Nobody is asking you to suspend belief about anything. These dumbasses are put into power with votes, people need to stop voting for them. It’s really quite simple. We keep getting these dumbass candidates for everything because we are dumbasses.
