That said, the idea tories could replace the lost income via public sector savings is bonkers. Absolutely bonkers.

The difference is stamp duty is a big lump sum cost i.e. to move house, SDLT can cost 6-12 months of income for most people, which is a big mental barrier and a major reason the housing market is stuck. Oddly that same amount added to the value of the house isn't the same as its an 'investment'

I sort've feel like how millennials can spot the scam callers and emails in a way that baby boomers can't, the next gen will be hardwired to spot this stuff, like a reflex. There'll be lots that won't of course but perhaps it's no different to boomers that are dragged into FB chat groups now
