@fxmc1957.bsky.social Huge fan of your Hitler trilogy, although I've only read Weimar and Triumph so far, I was compelled to start disaster immediately following completion of Triumph. Great writing style! Thank you for your hard work!

From Frank McDonough The Hitler Years_Triumph 1933-1939:
"The Fuhrer's authority is now completely in the ascendant in the cabinet," Goebbels commented. "There will be no more voting. The Fuhrer's personality decides. All this has been achieved much faster than we anticipated."

All of us (I hope) are counting on a reversal of fortune during the 2026 mid-term elections.
Are we sure that the Republicans will not manipulate local & state election authorities and pervert our votes so that a new crop of sycophants are elected? Now is the time to make sure our votes will count!

The American legal system - Judges and lawyers - must put a stop to the current administration's attempts to escalate violence in California and anywhere else it is targeting. The demonization of immigrants must stop!

Chernobyl mini-series
I finally watched this. I can't think of a better meditation on what happens to the pursuit of science and general problem-solving in an authoritarian society. It contains lessons for us all.

If you want some insights into why certain spheres of foreign policy continue to be such a mess, try the following. If you believe WW1 ended on 1918/11/11, you'll be surprised!

Can we authentically express surprise that the US has a fetid dumpster of dictatorial leaders in government now when (1) the U.S. has sponsored dictators the world over for at least the last 150 years, usually disasters, and (2) we've had anti-human rights leaders in our government the entire time?

#politics Concerned about the focus of this platform. It is obsessed with the Orange One. Yes, he poses an existential threat to citizens worldwide.

If you're interested in the complete bibliography of Henry Clifton Sorby (1826-1908) - and to be honest, who isn't - please know that the 1984 paper by M.J. Bishop incorrectly cites 1965 as the year in which the bibliography was published. It was 1963.

Histories of all kinds are sometimes complicated by confounding practices. For Herman Boerhaave (1668-1738) and William Cullen (1710-1790), their lectures in chemistry were "pirated" by their students, who copied down their understanding of a lecture. Those notes were then published.

A debate among early philosophers & physicians (~600 - ~300 B.C.E.) was focused on how eyes perceived objects. One group, intromissionists, believed eyes received images; extramissionists believed that eyes emanated energy that bounced off objects & returned an image to the eyes.#historyofscience
