It's a beefy book. It does include some stuff that other games put in their DM book, like magic items, crafting rules, etc.

The dwarves in Draw Steel are quite different, and going by those references, I can see them not being your cup of tea. Totally fair.

I'm going to be that guy and ask, have you looked at Nimble at all? They have crazy short monster statblocks, while delivering a whole RPG. I haven't had the chance to play, only browse through the books, so I can't vouch for their claim they're 5e compatible.
