Optimist. Likes books, photos, gardens, making films & music. All views my own. Gives benefit of doubt.
Anyone got a recommendation for a good recentish book for a bright 12 year old? Not my kid so not looking for something with an overt political/moral message (apart from kindness, tolerance, etc). Ideally something imaginative and intellectually stimulating.

Trying to work out what I have discovered since I joined Twitter almost twenty years ago: 1) if you refuse to think about your own poor health, it will decline and you will make people around you unforgivably stressed. 2) you can face that stuff 3) Your parents won’t be around forever

I watched the marvellous House of All play in Lewes the other night and they were terrific and overwhelming in all the ways you’d expect a band made up of ex-Fall members to be. But I also very much enjoyed (w)Asbo Derek who told us to SMASH our goals youtu.be/BN2pNxRPbF0?... #feeltheburn

I am really enjoying Zadie Smith's The Fraud. About half way through and mostly just delighted at the fact that it's funny on every single page, and pleased that I have no idea where it is going. But it has lots of interesting things to say about writing, power, populism and looming crises.

I am here not out of fury with Musk nor a desire for liberty but because I seek validation. I just want to be very clear from the off that my self-serving needs outweigh my principles.

Seeing all these familiar names and matching-up profile pics is extremely heartwarming, like wandering into a house you spotted with its door open to find all your furniture laid-out inside. Childhood sticker albums. I used to send people on Twitter postcards, stamps must have been cheaper then.
