Yep especially along the core corridors! We are at 6% mode share for public transport so we need to be moving millions of people a day not 10 ‘s of 1000’s on these corridors

At the very entrance to the busiest railway station on Brisbane’s Cleveland line. Ground floor all car parking. Very poor pedestrian safety. Other side of station equally unsafe with large car park! Brisbane is Australia’s most congested city!! And they wonder why!! @greaterbrisbane.org

It actually reduces capacity on the bus way and replaces a handful of routes. Still leaves 100’s of buses arriving at stations each hour in any order and now on a reduced portion of the platform as the longer electric buses get dedicated part of the platform. It’s a recipe for mayhem

What is even crazier than that is the stats below are completely and utterly ignored by both political debate and the media (noting they go hand in hand). So much evidence that this is a complete failure of planning. So little interest! Who wants another lane on a freeway/road?

So wish Translink here in Queensland, Aus would redesign the SEQ bus network to remove duplication and illegibility problems!

The whole transport system is broken.

The 1996 SEQ IRTP showed 78% of trips were by car & set 2011 a ⬇️ target of 66%.

28 years later & 13 years past the target, trips by car have INCREASED to 89%.

The very definition of failure

All level of Govt said they were doing it right but built SEQ wrong

Brisbane’s transport is close to worst practice with 89% of trips by car. This is failure on all levels especially cycling.

This project will make little change unlike Sydney’s Metro!

BCC needs to get out of public transport planning and project delivery. And stay out. Leave it to Translink

The City Plan is so out of date It restricts housing choice and density to a hand full of areas. Then it requires massive amount of parking which is built at ground or the first 3-6 floors of the building. Frequently blank walls to the street!! So much for pedestrian safety
