We've been back home for just a couple of hours now, and already I'm missing the sunset gelatos at Nico…

If you’re still here on the 6th, can I recommend an excellent concert?! (That I happen to be playing in…)

Plenty of @pgjonesvenice.bsky.social holiday reading here in our Venice Airbnb - though I've already read these ones… So instead, I've got @davidhewson.com's first Arnold Clover on my kindle -and am about to head over to Danilo with an empty water bottle to stock up for the weekend.

#TheNegroniDiaries: celebrating our arrival in Italy (Cernobbio, Como) with the first Negroni of the trip. No fancy herbs here, unlike some of @pgjonesvenice.bsky.social's recent ones…

If anyone is in Venice on Sept 6th: I'm one of a group of visiting (mostly) English singers and instrumentalists for this concert. Composers include G Gabrieli, Croce, Viadana, and Schütz (who studied in Venice with Gabrieli).

Following a theme started by @pgjonesvenice.bsky.social, here’s the London edition of The Negroni Diaries: the late Russell Norman’s Brutto in Farringdon. An absolute steal @ £5 🥳

Super: going on my list for our week there (arriving 29th, probably after you've gone). When we stayed in Santa M, in a rainy 2018, the eating places around there weren’t as interesting. View from our window (yours, too?!)

The introduction to this lovely review hints at what makes Café Oto a special place. I'm excited to be playing my first gig there on Sat 24th, with Balinese Gamelan LilaCita

I did the same thing; enjoyed some of the tweets

Slightly guilty admission: for the G minor, I'd rather be listening to this…

You can now get both novellas bound together: this was a Christmas present from our son. Haven’t had a chance to read it yet…

This moment for the 4 Wagner tubas is absolutely heart-melting

Very envious of all that Austrian sunshine & snow. Don’t expect anything like it when you get home…

Minkowski for me: period instruments, but quite large-scale.

Heading out to a gamelan rehearsal: exciting times on the Elizabeth Line…

This was my listening yesterday evening. Streaming via Presto Classical, so no CDs to show.

Skeets is the app I use: the interface is reminiscent of the old Twitter iPad one, and (v useful) it has a bookmarks feature. Here's a screenshot I posted a couple of weeks ago when also recommending the app.

A combination of Post You from another era and #ThrowbackThursday: early 1980s, rehearsing for a concert in Orleans Ho, Twickenham. Alan Davis & me, recorders, Philippa Morgan cello, Robin Jeffrey theorbo

Coincidentally, I was reading a review by @jonathandnunn.bsky.social this morning, which waxed lyrical about the dish, as cooked by Hugh Corcoran at Yellow Bittern

I'm using the Skeets app on iPad: familiar interface from the old iPad Twitter app, and the ability to bookmark posts. Here’s a screenshot from earlier today (this is the third time I've recommended Skeets today!)

I'm using the Skeets app on my iPad: the interface is very similar to the old Twitter iPad view, and bookmarks are enabled. Here's a screenshot from an earlier thread today.

Skeets gives you an interface very similar to the iPad one for x/Twitter, and includes bookmarks.

Meanwhile, I'm seeing this rather promising lineup in the Wigmore tonight.

The Regata Storica here today - which, thanks to my old friend Robin Rigby (we first met at the Early Music Centre in the 1970s), I was able to see from the water, in a Sandolo from his Venetian rowing club 😎
