Congressman Jonathan L. Jackson (D-IL 01)
@jonathanjackson.house.gov
Honored to represent #IL01 and committed to promoting policies that advance equality and justice. Proud Member of
@HouseForeign and @HouseAgDems
Trump talks a big game while families in IL-01 feel the squeeze. Prices are up, health care is still broken, and corruption is running wild in Washington. I’m fighting to lower costs, protect your care, and clean up Trump’s mess so this economy finally works for working people.

Trump and the GOP promised to lower costs; instead they hiked them sky-high! Reckless tariffs, higher health care bills, pricier groceries and utilities. They lied, and working families are paying the price. Democrats are laser-focused on lowering costs; because Americans deserve better.

Happy Veterans Day!

@HouseDemocrats know that the American people deserve better. That is why we are ready, willing and able to quickly reach a bipartisan agreement that reopens the government, ensures #SNAP benefits are paid, and lowers health care costs. #MakeAmericaHungryAgain

My office captured several stills from today’s
@dhsgov.govmirrors.com video supporting Gregory Bovino. The imagery is deeply troubling; it evokes another era when masked government agents rounded up so-called “undesirables" (I’m sure that’s just a coincidence).

@RepFields and I founded the Congressional #DEI Caucus to push back against Trump’s attacks on Black students. The data is clear: DEI bans have shut the doors of opportunity; locking THOUSANDS of Black students out of America’s top institutions. #DiversityEquityInclusion

MAGAs shut down the government to make families choose between #Food and #Healthcare. End the shutdown and 7.3M lose care. Keep it going and 42M lose #SNAP benefits. Either way, @Trump stays well fed. #MakeAmericaHungryAgain #MAHA

@POTUS found $40B to bailout #Argentina’s president, but can’t find $5B to keep food on American tables. Next week, #SNAP cuts will hit 1 in 8 Americans; not because we’re broke, but because this administration is choosing not to use available contingency funds. #AmericaFirst?

Yesterday I met with HealthCare Equity Advisory Council and banded together in a discovery meeting to discuss how to best support our hospitals, physicians and the broader healthcare community during the ongoing shutdown.

Apparently @JDVance is doubling down on his support for a White Supremacist who said “I love Hitler” and called Black people “watermelon people.” Whataboutism isn’t leadership. His only job is reminding us that without Trump, things could be worse — he’s #ImpeachmentInsurance.

Why do megalomaniacs always build giant monuments? You don’t put rims on a rental, or custom cabinets in an Airbnb—and you sure don’t build a gold-plated Oval Office, billion-dollar jet, grand ballroom and now an “Arc de Trump” if you actually plan on leaving in 3 years

#BadBunny’s @SuperBowl selection is not just a cultural milestone, it's a reminder. #PuertoRicans have shaped American music, culture, and identity. Puerto Rican nationalists were active supporters of the Civil Rights movement. Yet they lack full voting rights and statehood.

When others stay silent, @zachbryan.bsky.social sings the truth. While kids are zip-tied and our liberties trampled, he reminds us that country music has always stood for compassion. Courage and decency must be applauded
