Very cool!

Here is the grave of one of his sons, Owen Brown, on Little Round Top in Altadena, CA.

I hiked up and took this photo in 2021.

Don't know for sure, but I believe this site must have burned up in the January, 2025 fire.

Can we put @katie-drummond.bsky.social in charge of the Democratic Party?

Was sad to hear of the passing of the great Dr. Patrick McGovern—"The Indiana Jones" of Ancient Alcohol.

My collaborators & I paid homage to him in our Penguin Random House nonfiction graphic novel, The Comic Book Story of Beer.

Also got to have a beer with him at our book event in Philadelphia!

George W. Bush spouted Biblical prophecy about "Gog and Magog" to justify going to war in Iraq. Bush figured he was the imperfect mortal instrument God had chosen to work through to bring about the end times.

How sad Bush must be that the evangelicals have moved on to their next Cyrus, Trump

Trump keeps trying to evoke emergency powers based on inability to enforce law.

When is "insurrection" legitimately underway? Tests are well established in U.S. history.

If courts are open & functioning (they weren't in Shea's Rebellion), no insurrection exists.

The Hegseth-style Dominionist madmen of Washington and the Pentagon must be slavering at an opportunity to attack Iran.

I will not forgot how in, 2003, George W Bush when trying to get support for war in Iraq spewed Biblical prophecy about "Gog & Magog" in a call to French President Chirac .

"The army is a dangerous instrument to play with," George Washington wrote Alexander Hamilton on April 4, 1783.

It seems Hamilton recklessly mused about leveraging a possible military coup to seize greater power for Congress. Washington stopped him cold.

"The greatest liberty in the world is for people to live under a monarch. And no other form of government."

John Locke wrote his treatises on government—tracts which underpin the U.S. Constitution—to REJECT these words of Sir Robert Filmer.

#NoKings

“Nothing need be said to illustrate the importance of the prohibition of titles of nobility. This may truly be denominated the corner-stone of republican government; for so long as they are excluded, there can never be serious danger that the government will be any other than that of the people.”

No Kings Day

The USA having a dictatorial executive was once a toxic idea. When Alexander Hamilton's enemies wanted to tear him down, they accused him of pushing for monarchy in America.

But Hamilton's position was clear. Government of the people, no nobility.

Did you know that Benedict Arnold and Aaron Burr—the first an infamous American traitor, the second arguably so—knew each other, and had even teamed up for a mission?

Burr, as a volunteer aide in 1775, joined Arnold on an ill-fated invasion of Canada.

Here's California member of the U.S. House of Representatives Ken Calvert calling for the impeachment of **Bill Clinton** in 1998.

Now the Trump administration is preparing a military occupation in Calvert's own state, and Calvert will issue no such call. The corruption and casuistry is bottomless.

Parents, psychologists, educators! Behold the perils of baseline drift!

In the late 1970s, folks lamented that young people could "only" focus—attention-span wise—on any given thing "for 12 1/2 MINUTES" because of **television.**

How far we've come!

If this is the true, reported experience of these Long Island, New York, Loyalists after 1783, it was their own fault, because Canadians are very friendly and excellent neighbours.

The desecration of Constitutional order in the USA was announced on October 23, 2023, when then-new House Speaker Mike Johnson announced, "You are going to see a NEW FORM OF GOVERNMENT."

Almost no one made any note of it at the time.

The illegal, debased power seizure alluded to then begins now.
