Anecdotally, another factor seems to me to have been the explosion of amateur genealogy since the 1990s, which has given more people an obvious personal connection to the FWW in particular.

Hehe. Not to be a pedantic arse, but the picture you have for 'Westmorland' is of course Wasdale Head, which was in Cumberland!
