Not a journalist, just an opinion. TBH I can’t remember having commented on it before, but if so I’m glad I was consistent 😆.

I understand the frustration, and questions from some in the pressers are admittedly embarrassing, I just think the problems elsewhere.

I’m not sure we are any different to other clubs in the way journos work

I don’t think it is true that they don’t say what they are hearing from inside the club, it’s just that there haven’t been consistent stories because there has been a vacuum at the club for most of the time since Staveley left
January 24, 2026 at 11:41 AM
I don’t think it is right to assume that the only source of info for them comes at press conferences & public events because they are the only things we have access to.

They need relations with those in the club to pick up off the record stuff. In public events the shutters would just come down.
January 24, 2026 at 11:04 AM
The journos inevitably have to tread a fine line to keep a working relationship with the club, but what is the alternative?

Most want those answers just as much as we do, if not more as it would make for great stories for them professionally

How would it help the fans if they didn’t have access?

Pity he can’t play against us in the semi-final 2nd leg. I’d fancy him to get a couple for us as usual.
January 17, 2026 at 8:42 PM
I understand, but it isn’t uncommon for a coach to walk before he is sacked.

You’re also right that it isn’t just about results at that level but are we really seeing players progressing to either PL or transfer prospects?

Obviously 3 months into the job that’s not all on him at all.
January 12, 2026 at 12:31 AM
6 out of 6 defeats in the U21 Champions League followed by 1 goal in 8 games domestically will do that.
January 11, 2026 at 10:35 PM
They’ve scored 1 goal in the last eight games.

I mean I know it’s not all about results at that level but it’s not like they’re been losing dozens of players to the first team and loans.

By memory Cordone had his feet soldered together too.
January 11, 2026 at 3:43 PM
Yeah, but no team concede more goals in the FA Cup 3rd Round after the 122nd minute than NUFC season so we must be shite. 😂
January 11, 2026 at 3:40 PM
I can’t say I love his run up either. It puts our fans off more than the opposing keeper and I think we have communal PTSD after the last one he missed, which is probably the worst PK I’ve seen in my life!

I just think we shouldn’t get too down on his penalties because he has put a few away too.
January 11, 2026 at 3:34 PM
In his career with Lyon & NUFC, Bruno has scored 5 and missed 2 (71%). The PL average over 10 years is 78%, so this would suggest he is slightly below average and shouldn’t be first choice (which he never has been), but as one of the takers of in a shootout he is fine.
January 11, 2026 at 10:23 AM
Absolutely, Nothing better than seeing a youth player developing into real quality. Watching Miley (and even Anderson at Forest) has been magic.
January 10, 2026 at 1:51 PM
At 1st team level we have over achieved since takeover, but I worry about what is coming through.

This is part of the squad strength problem. If we had more viable young players coming through, they don’t count towards the 25 man squad and so should give added depth.
January 10, 2026 at 1:07 PM
I know it’s too early to judge these players, but from what I have seen of them I am not convinced that any have the quality to be future NUFC players.

The U21s have scored 1 goal in the last 8 games. At that level it’s not about results, but is there a line of top teams offering loans for that?
January 10, 2026 at 1:04 PM
There is a lot of criticism of loans, but I don’t see much talent to work with. Youth recruitment & development is the problem not the loans.

Since takeover the only 2 who have looked anywhere near PL potential have been Anderson & Miley who were both here before 2021 (both have become PL players)
January 10, 2026 at 12:45 AM
I listened to this week’s pod and George’s tribute to Keegan at the end was a wonderful expression of what he means to NUFC.

No man is bigger than the club, but Keegan is as close to it as is imaginable. He created NUFC as we know it & a generation of grateful toon fans are supporting him now.
January 9, 2026 at 2:10 AM
I think you are right about Anderson, but Howe isn’t the reason for the lack of youth players coming through.

Other than the three mentioned, none have looked anywhere near PL quality. The problem is youth recruitment and youth coaching.
January 5, 2026 at 7:03 PM
Not sure if the problem is with our loans dept or maybe these players just aren’t at that level.

We should be seeing something from the youth teams by now, but the only results have been Miley, Anderson & Minteh, 2 of whom were already close to the 1st team & the other was never in our youth system
January 5, 2026 at 5:57 PM
Let’s hope their defence had the same pre-match meal.
December 30, 2025 at 7:07 PM
Yes, he was a decent centre half. If I recall correctly he was our record signing at the time at £250k.
December 30, 2025 at 6:28 PM
I think it would have been Gordon plus one, but agree with both of the comments about Howe, and certainly don’t think he is beyond criticism. I just wouldn’t be rushing into a change at this point.
December 29, 2025 at 9:45 AM
Also, I don’t think Gordon wouldn’t have been enough. It would only have opened up £8m amortisation from his transfer fee that summer, plus about £30m profit (?), when we needed more.
December 29, 2025 at 12:05 AM
With hindsight yes, but not many were clamouring for a Gordon sale at the end of that season.

Any of the elite potential replacements would take some convincing to come to a club with a net spend of approx. £60m since the summer of 2023. Add to that 2 summers of shambolic club management.
