This looks like something straight out of VDQI as chart junk. It's arguably attractive but so many issues. City name impact size which is meaningless, the shading is arbitrarily based on the 3d shapes and even the yellow to red color is not consistently applied. Depth obscures values as well.

I've been thinking the main issue is that we "trust" computers to give us accurate answers. If a random person online makes an assertion, I will consider the source and my current knowledge, and decide to treat the info as credible or not. But whom do I trust? Google, Bing, NYT, Epoch Times?

I saw someone post negative comments about using this inflection to a speaker and was appalled. Even the name "vocal fry" is degrading. Individuals and social groups judge in vs out based on speech but that is an inherent bias we should fight against.
