No, more like a man-shaped carrot. In the first movie, the carrot man had enough seeds to grow an army of his kind, but they needed blood to grow. The original concept of a shape shifter who could look and sound like the people it absorbed was a scarier idea

Yeah, Campbell was the editor of Astounding from the 30's until he died in '71. There's a yearly sci-fi award in his name that used to be given out.

$100 dollars says he's never looked at Melania like that.

I watched it more times than I can count as a little kid. As 50s monster movies go, it was well done, with better acting than most and a good script.

Trump may not have blown Clinton, but, God damn, it looks like he wants to blow Mamdani.

I've seen both movies and I've also read Campbell's novella, "Who Goes There". Actually, John Carpenter's remake more closely follows the story (in the first movie version, the creature is a walking vegetable instead of a shapeshifter)

One of the only movies to give me nightmares (watched it at too young an age)

Started Volume 1 a few days ago. Excellent read so far.

I like them both, but a big nod to the original for the social satire

I've read several of his books and enjoyed them.

The Doors were my first introduction to the 60s. While my friends were listening to Poison and Motley Crue, I was listening to Hendrix, The Doors, and Cream.

Still have a few of the masks left. Guess I’m ready for the next pandemic

During COVID, I ordered a bunch of masks from Redbubble with different designs (Hendrix, The Doors, The Black Keys, and several paintings). The Kiss was one of them.

Mine also. "The Kiss" is one of my favorites
