President McKinley is oz, the lion is William Jennings Bryan, the scare crow is farmers, the tin man is laborers, the yellow brick road is the gold standard, and Dorothy a naive American

As a De progressive, I'd say it's a tough one to pull off. De's political culture revolves around the Delaware Way, which involves a literal hatchet burying ceremony, and pushes moderates. Add a well organized Dem party apperatus, you get the same people trading offices with one another

Yet it seems getting rid of the filibuster is/was the only realistic path to making changes that might actually safeguard democracy from a ruler with autocratic ambitions, and I suspect Democrats will never have the stomach/votes to do it themselves

It's why Machiavelli thought a republic was the best form of government, citizens will fight and die for an ideal, whereas mercenaries will fight for money but they won't die for it

I remember the CEO of I want say Best Buy saying something like half of their ad spending went to making sure they were the first sponsored result when people Google Best Buy

Yup, all these powders would meet existing FDA standards, if the FDA regulated supplements, and do meet EU supplement requirements. Using prop 65 levels (which were set in 1989, are extremely strict, and have no scientific backing) is misleading. CR did the same thing w/ baby formula.

I think one advantage Dems have is they are very clearly trying to get something for people, as opposed to trying to take things away like Rs often are when they play shutdown.

There's reason to be skeptical that more than a handful would actually leave. There's also a study from LSE that found rich Brits wouldn't leave solely for tax reasons in part bc they view low tax jurisdictions boring
Millionaire exodus did not occur, study reveals - Tax Justice Network
The number of millionaires widely reported in the news to be leaving countries in "exodus" represented near-0% of all millionaires.

There are procedural hurdles to ICC indicting people from non-member states. Basically, requires referral from UNSC, or the crimes to occur in a member state, which asks for ICC involvement. Additionally, the attacks happening in international waters greatly complicates jurisdictional matters

Also, if I had to put money on it, I'd bet the first woman president will be a Republican (with very little confidence)

Candidate demographics, age aside, don't matter to me one way or another. I do care about policies, bc it'll be policies, or lack thereof, that ultimately save our democracy or doom it. If a generic white guy winning was enough we wouldn't be here. Of course, I'd bet on the nominee being a white guy

At some point this becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. HC got 3 million more votes than Trump, Harris outperformed incumbents in other countries. And there were lots of people who said the same thing about a black president in the run up to 2008

Completely successful wars are few and far in between, even WWII ended with the USSR occupying Eastern Europe. In terms of primary objectives, NATO intervention in Bosnia might be another one if you count it as US war
