It was bad enough when they pulled out Sonic Generations in favor of the Shadow re-release with its bad redubbed lines, but now it's a fully worse story entirely. God I hope Sega gets their act together

IDK man, Sega/RGG can just be *weird* sometimes. Maybe they were just testing the waters to see if they could shift to selling remasters with added content instead of full-on Kiwami-style remakes

I don't think so. It'd be 40 years in-universe between Y0 and a potential Y9, so it would be very difficult for them to bring up those retcons naturally. Besides, they have to know the added scenes are widely hated, so it's likely they'll never bring'em up again, other than to actively piss off fans

Worth mentioning that the added scenes are genuinely bad. Not in the sense that they're throwaway filler, but in the sense that they ACTIVELY make the game worse with insane retcons and needlessly spelling out subtlety from the original.
