How long before speaking out against the regime is labeled "UnAmerican"? Over/under is six months.
This is the piece I will be arrested for. by Arthur M. Jolly Charges will be made, Leveled, brought, filed And this is the piece I will be arrested for. Do not read it. They have warned you. The words are subversive, an incitement to violence. I have committed assault, I have disturbed the natural order, I would resist, but I have no resistance. Only empty words, unread, unheard. And this is the piece I will be arrested for. I have beaten my ineffectual fists against the monolithic tanks and heard nothing but a hollow knocking echoing inside. Inciting violence will be stamped across my file. I would show these words to them and ask where, but who would I show them to?
They will not read them, they will not, for these are the words I will be arrested for. (Do not read them. They have warned you.) Inciting violence, when the blood drips from their boot heels, when every action they have taken in turn took its price in suffering, in misery, in lives. Was I the one that said when peaceful protest is impossible, violence is the only option? That Fascism has only ever been defeated by direct confrontation, that complacency always and only aids the oppressor? Those aren’t my words, even if they are true. I never said them. And yet These are the words I will be arrested for. Do not read them. They have warned you.
