We disagree. Let’s leave it at that. I’m not here to be insulted. Enjoy your day

Well they shouldn’t strike then should they? They don’t live in poverty btw. We will just have to agree to disagree on this one

I don’t agree. This government set about addressing public sector pay as soon as they took office. Salaries have not recovered to pre 2010 levels but at least they made an effort
December 13, 2025 at 2:32 PM
That was the last government that did that

I had my pay frozen for years as a teacher. I agree that wages are crap. But striking during a flu epidemic when you’ve already had a massive pay rise is grossly irresponsible. I cannot support it
December 13, 2025 at 2:25 PM
Look I don’t doubt that but there have been no other public sector workers, like teachers or nurses getting anywhere near that kind of pay rise. I come from a medical family, junior doctors have always worked incredibly hard but they go on to make six figure salaries. They also vow to do no harm
December 13, 2025 at 2:17 PM
That is utter BS
December 13, 2025 at 12:38 PM
Pardon? They’ve already had a 29% pay rise!

My point is that we need to accept it’s not a simple exercise. Like we can just decide we want to rejoin in a heartbeat. There are many hurdles to clear and we certainly wouldn’t have the deal we had before we left, eg we may have to join the Euro. That’s not an easy sell to the British public
December 11, 2025 at 12:29 PM
Yes but read Stella Creasy’s article in the Guardian and you’ll see what I mean. It’s definitely no slam dunk

Mike I think you need to be honest with people that rejoining the EU would take years. It’s not a simple exercise but would require another referendum, plus negotiations with the EU who may not even want us, plus all the economic uncertainty that would bring. And I say this as an ardent Remainer

Do you only read replies?
