Much better! Not sure your reasoning was very compelling.

Those are welfare capitalist countries you’ve highlighted. I like the energy that Bernie, Zohran, and AOC bring and hope some of their programs succeed, but they need to speak clearly if they mean welfare capitalism like the Nordics or something else and specify what country reflects their vision.

It’s starts with passing an Ultimate Beneficial Ownership Rule that pierces “offshore” jurisdictions.

Not familiar with who these so called Democrat leaders are. On the other hand, the Democratic leaders will hopefully attend the rallies tomorrow and show the leadership that the Trump party is incapable of.

That last line leads to why does ZM use the term ‘democratic socialism’ which is not the Scandinavian model rather than the specifically correct ‘welfare capitalism?’

Are you really only now coming around to this conclusion?

We’re where unfettered capitalism and democracy clash proving mergers and obscene wealth accumulation are never in the best interest of the people. Such consolidation creates fewer systemic points of failure to overwhelm or control.

The kicker - more he suffers in PR, Courts, state legislatures … in any of his plans, faster he will act with greater impunity. These small tests are to ensure true believers will act when called upon. How soon until we are at Pinochet corralling ‘opposition’ into the National Stadium in Santiago?

Further, note most folks fail to use correct language to describe what happens to subgroups B & C above; which should be - they were killed by perp but perp was justified in doing so because X, Y, & Z. Most coverage is … subgroups B & C ‘were killed’ as if they suffered spontaneous combustion.
August 22, 2025 at 5:27 PM
Wrong analogy. More proper analogy - OG intent to mass murder a group of folks … which you accomplish to a large extent … but you declare your intent was only to target subgroup A & deaths of subgroups B & C were, while foreseeable, not intentional, & regrettably caused by subgroup A. See OG intent.

So you recognize that the perpetrator sees the ‘bright line’ of genocidal intent and conducts themselves in a manner, speaks in a way, emotes, publishes, declares … just shy of such line to avail themselves of the benefit of the doubt.

So is it incorrect in the Armenian context? If so, why? Did the Turks not systematically kill and push the Armenians out? Was that genocide not one of the Hitler’s inspirations?
August 22, 2025 at 4:47 PM
It was always expected that the ones closest who are no longer true believers would be targeted first. That’s authoritarianism 101, n'est-ce pas?

NONE of those countries identify as socialist countries; they are capitalist countries with strong social welfare programs, welfare capitalist states. Understanding shortcomings of capitalism, they seek to create a functioning safety net and education system. Several have sovereign wealth funds, too
